California CPF Member Raises $5,000 at 1st Annual 100 mile Walk/Run to Benefit IPF Patient John Wilson

Lorie Bernal of San Jose, Calif. organized her first annual personal challenge on Memorial Day weekend May 28-31, 2004 to walk and bike 100 miles for four days on behalf of her father John Wilson, who passed away from IPF in 2003. She had family and friends, including her father walk with her at certain times during her journey, and everyone wore t-shirts with a picture of John that her son drew. Lorie also held the event as a fundraiser, and exceeded her goal to raise over $5,000 for a generous contribution to the CPF. Lorie’s walk/run this year fell during the same week as her father’s 68th birthday, and she will continue to challenge herself around the same time annually to celebrate John and his fight against IPF.
